Farmingdale School District was in a festive mood this autumn, enjoying seasonally activities such as pumpkin picking, donating to charity and even a "Turkey Trot".

Both Saltzman East Memorial Elementary School and Woodward Parkway Elementary School students were treated to a traditional fall event, pumpkin picking.

Saltzman focused on teaching kindergarten and first grade students about the fall harvest while pumpkin picking on school grounds. Families were invited to attend the special occasion as well.

Woodward Parkway transformed the school's courtyard to a "farm" for a day of face painting and pumpkin picking. A petting zoo was brought onto school grounds to teach the children about farm life and the animals unique environments.

Students of all grade levels at Saltzman were also encouraged to participate in the mile-long run for the "Turkey Trot" program during their lunch periods. Participants were also asked to donate canned goods in an effort to teach the importance of physical fitness and charity.

Albany Avenue Elementary School was also in the spirit of being kind to one another this fall by enacting an active anti-bullying stance and having students take an anti-bullying pledge.

Students were asked to make posters to serve as visual reminders to be kind. Other commitments include reciting the anti-bullying pledge weekly and wearing green on Wednesdays to honor their vows.
