The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook, Nassau, Malverne and Rockville Centre police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate guilt.

NYC Man Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Ex-Girlfriend

The Malverne Police Department responded to a 911 call on Nov. 29 for a male refusing to leave a Nassau Boulevard home. Upon the officers' arrival, it was discovered the suspect, an ex-boyfriend of the victim, had sexually assaulted the victim.

Prior to the officers' arrival, the suspect, a New York City man, had left the scene, but was apprehended a short time later, at approximately 10:59 p.m., on Hempstead Avenue in Lynbrook. He was arrested for the reported sexual abuse. The suspect was transported to the Malverne Police Department for processing, and then brought to Nassau County Police Headquarters for lodging until his arraignment at First District Court on Nov. 30.

Police Commissioner: RVCPD Gang Plan Getting Results

An ongoing investigation by the Rockville Centre Police Department focusing on eradicating gang presence in the village is showing positive results, according to police officials.

Police said that since its inception in 2010, the investigation has seen 48 arrests resulting from gang-related offense, including include drug trafficking and violent crimes. Drugs, money and numerous firearms have been seized during the investigation.

In early 2010, Police Commissioner Charles Gennario introduced a plan to address Rockville Centre’s gang issues. Focusing on gang-specific criminal behavior and incorporating the assistance of the FBI, Gennario spearheaded an investigation that has seen 40 of the 48 defendants either get convicted or plea to the crimes charged.

Combined, these defendants could serve more than 600 years in prison — an average of more than 15 years per defendant. In addition, several of the arrested persons are facing life imprisonment. More pleas or convictions are expected for the remaining defendants, police said.

Suspicious Incident in Lynbrook

An 11-year-old boy reported to police on Nov. 20 at 4:20 p.m. that while walking northbound on Union Avenue at Scranton Avenue at 2:45 p.m. a black man, who was sitting in a parked tan Toyota 4-Runner, asked him, “Do you know where the plumbing supply is?” and “Can you get in my car and show me?”

These questions put the complainant in fear, at which time he ran from the scene to a family member’s home. The suspect is described as 30 to 40 years of age, short hair, brown eyes, with a Jamaican accent and wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt.
