A two-car collision in Inwood sent two people to area hospitals Sunday afternoon.

Inwood firefighters rushed to the scene at Sheridan and Bayswater boulevards just before 2 p.m., where a minivan and a sedan collided in the busy intersection, sending the sedan careening into a building. The building, which is occupied by a plumbing supply company, sustained damage to its garage door.

The Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department was called in for an additional ambulance. The drivers were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries for evaluation. Nassau County Police shut down Sheridan Boulevard while firefighters mitigated a fluid spill. The roadway was opened after an hour.
