Woodmere Man Arrested for Menacing in Manhasset

A Woodmere man was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly drove his car toward a code enforcement officer in Manhasset twice and made death threats at him, according to police.

Detectives said that the victim, a 50-year-old code enforcement officer for the Village of Manhasset, was forced on two occasions to “jump between parked cars” in Parking Lot #4 after Andrew Bass, 59, allegedly accelerated towards him. The victim recognized Bass from a previous incident in which he issued a ticket to Bass, and Bass allegedly made threats to the officer’s life.

After a follow up investigation by detectives, Bass was contacted and asked to come to the Third Precinct, where he was placed under arrest on Tuesday at 10:10 a.m.

Bass is charged with second-degree menacing, second-degree reckless endangerment and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree. He will be arraigned on Oct. 17 in First District Court in Hempstead.
