The primary for the Democratic nomination to the new Sixth Congressional District is still months away, but already the three candidates are rallying their support.

Every week, we’ll take a look at some of the campaign events and endorsements that impact the race, to help you make an informed decision when the primary rolls around on June 26.

All three candidates have picked up endorsements in the last few days, here are a few of the big ones:

City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley

The UFA threw their considerable weight behind Council member Elizabeth Crowley last week, citing her support as chair of the council’s Fire Safety Committee.

“Elizabeth Crowley has a proven record. When she became Chair of the Fire Committee, I saw someone dedicated to improving public safety,” said UFA President Stephen Cassidy. “In my view she’s the best candidate because I’ve seen her in action, and the Uniformed Firefighters Association is proud to endorse her for Congress.”

Assemblyman Rory Lancman

The Local 32BJ Service Employees Union went with Rory Lancman this week, a development Lancman was proud to announce on March 29.

"I'm proud to accept the endorsement of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 32BJ and its 120,000 members in my bid to represent New York's 6th Congressional District in Congress,” Lancman said. “Together -- in the legislature and on the streets — we've fought for fair wages, safe workplaces and the right of working people to organize, and I can't wait for us to bring that fight to Washington."

Lancman also picked up the endorsement of the local chapter of the Community Workers of America Union on March 28.

Perhaps the biggest endorsement of the week went to Lancman from former Mayor Ed Koch. Koch had previously

“It’s a true honor to accept the endorsement of Mayor Ed Koch, someone who has been a tireless advocate for Israel and Jewish communities here in New York,” Lancman said. “Ed Koch understands the special relationship between the United States and Israel – a relationship I will strive to build upon if elected to Congress.”

Assemblywoman Grace Meng

On Monday, Meng collected the endorsement of the Italian American Political Action Committee, an active and influential group in the five boroughs.
