The Community Singers of Queens are
holding rehearsals at Flushing's Messiah Lutheran Church, located at 42-15 165th St. The group consists of amateur singers who are accompanied and taught by professional, who help prepare them for a concert in May that will include pop, spirituals, classical and show tunes.
The Central Queens Y, located at 67-09 108th St., will offer a program titled
Think Positive at 1:30 p.m. The workshop will include a discussion on how to rid yourself of negative thoughts and reduce stress.
The Forest Hills Library, located at 108-19 71st Ave., will hold a
performance of arias and songs in Russian, Italian, German, Spanish, Hebrew, Chinese and English at 5:30 p.m. Performers will include soprano Liora Michelle and pianist Inna Leytush.
Queens Borough President Melinda Katz will speak during the
112th Precinct Community Council's monthly meeting, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the precinct, located at 68-40 Austin St. in Forest Hills.
The Queens Botanical Garden, located at 43-20 Main St., will host its
compost project from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Attendees will learn about earthworms, how to set up a worm bin and methods of effectively maintaining the system. The entrance fee is $5. To register, call 718-539-5296.
The Central Queens Y, located at 67-09 108th St., is holding one of its
Everybody Loves Saturday Night events from 7 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Attendees will be able to use the Y's pool, gym and body shop during the event.
