Should Queens Blvd. Have Emergency Lanes?

Queens pol wants to see thoroughfare get same treatment as Manhattan avenues.

Should Queens Blvd. Have Emergency Lanes? Should Queens Blvd. Have Emergency Lanes?

Queens Boulevard, otherwise known as "the Boulevard of Death," has had its fair share of improvements over the years, but it still lacks one feature — emergency lanes.

But that will all change if City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. has his way, according to the New York Post.

While have made an effort to improve pedestrian safety, ambulances on the traffic artery still have to fight against traffic that often doesn't know how to clear the road, Vallone told the paper.

“In Manhattan they have these lanes and when you hear sirens you know exactly what lane to leave open, but as you sit on Queens Boulevard, where the traffic is just as bad, motorists have no idea what lane to leave empty,” Vallone was quoted by the Post.

So what do you think? Should Queens Boulevard get some emergency lanes? Let us know, share your thoughts in the comments and vote in the poll below.
