The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Oct. 1: Detectives are investigating a report of an
unknown vehicle striking a parked vehicle on the
campus before leaving the scene without stopping.
Oct. 3: Police conducted a commercial vehicle Inspection on Clinton Road, inspecting 17 vehicles, placing nine out of service and issuing 98 tickets for safety and traffic
violations. In addition, there were six overweight violations, one over
length violation and five defective brakes violations cited.
Oct. 3: Detectives are investigating unauthorized charges to a resident’s credit card at an establishment in New Hyde Park.
Oct. 4: A light post was found damaged and knocked down to the ground on Vassar Street.
Oct. 4: Officer Wehr was conducting traffic enforcement on Hilton Avenue when
he observed a male 60-year-old from Garden City operating a vehicle northbound while on a cell phone without a hand-free device. The vehicle was stopped and it was determined that the vehicle had a suspended registration and
switched plates. The driver was charged with driving with a suspended
registration, switched plates, uninsured operation and failure to use a hands-free device. The vehicle was impounded.
Oct. 4: Garden City detectives charged a male 29-year-old from Garden City with leaving the scene of an accident for an incident on Sept. 30 where a parked car in
Parking Field 7S was struck by a vehicle that left the scene without
Oct. 4: As a result of an investigation of a stolen van from the parking lot of Long Island Waterproof on Old Broadway on Sept. 29, Garden City detectives
arrested an employee, a male 27-year-old from Hempstead, for that theft.
Oct. 5: Graffiti in the form of miscellaneous letters was found on the Chestnut Street railroad bridge structure.
Oct. 5: A gym bag was removed from a vehicle parked at a Keenan Place residence.
Oct. 6: Officer Petraglia responded to a one-vehicle crash on Old Country Road in
the vicinity of Herricks Road at 1:45 a.m., where the vehicle stuck a
utility pole. The driver, a female 52-year-old from East Rockaway, was not injured.
She was placed under arrest for DWI (.17 percent blood alcohol content) after displaying numerous signs of intoxication.
Oct. 6: Officer Touhy arrested a female 40-year-old from Brooklyn at
Lord & Taylor for the
shoplifting of wallets and clothing items totaling $472 in value.
Oct. 7: A lamp post at a Newmarket Road residence was knocked to the ground and damaged.
Oct. 7: The department is investigating the unauthorized use of a debit card for online purchases totaling more than $700.
Oct. 8: Officer Reilly arrested a male 24-year-old and female 25-year-old, both from Roslyn, for the
theft of more than $500 in assorted merchandise from
Oct. 9: The police department collected 52 used cell phones from residents and
forwarded them to the Cell Phones for Soldiers Program so that service
men and woman oversees will receive phone access availability to
contact family members and friends back home.
Oct. 9: A laptop computer was removed from a vehicle parked at a Huntington Rd residence.
