The Garden City Board of Education and superintendent of schools Dr. Robert Feirsen announced at its Feb. 12 regular meeting the formation of a Technology Task Force with the following charge:

The District Technology Task Force is charged with identifying trends in technology and determining their potential impact on Garden City Public Schools. The Task Force will evaluate the current status of technology in the School District, conduct research, review mandates, identify best practices, estimate costs, suggest possible funding mechanisms, assess return on investment, and will recommend strategies, plans, and policies for Board of Education consideration.

The Task Force will be chaired by the Superintendent of Schools or his designee and will be comprised of members drawn from school district staff, community members, and students. A Board of Education liaison will also serve on the Task Force. It is anticipated that the Task Force will present a report to the Board of Education that includes findings, conclusions, and recommendations in January 2014.

Garden City residents interested in volunteering to serve on the task force should submit a resume highlighting their qualifications to the superintendent of schools by mail c/o the Administration Building, 56 Cathedral Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530, or by email supt@gcufsd.net by Friday, March 1.
