Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club December Youth of the Month

Jayden B. and Ashley N. were named Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for December.

Senior Youth of the Month, Jayden, 13, an eighth grader at Robert M. Finley Middle School, wants to join the United States Marine Corps when he grows up. Inspired by his military family members, Jayden feels compelled to serve his country as well. Jayden would also like to attend college and an avid sportsman, hopes to play professional football someday. Jayden has been a member of the Club for four years and attends regularly with his three siblings. “Without the Club, I would be home with no adult supervision,” said Jayden, who has established a great social network and considers the Club his home away from home.

Junior Youth of the Month, Ashley, 10, is in the fifth grade at Connolly Elementary School. She enjoys learning, especially science. “I like to experiment and find new ways of doing things,” said Ashley who aspires to become a Middle School science teacher when she grows up. A relatively new member to the Club and Club experience, Ashley has already established the Learning Center as her favorite place. “The staff really understands us kids and Mr. Sean (O’Callaghan, Director of Education) is very kind and funny and really helps us. Because of the Club, I am becoming more responsible about doing my homework and getting better grades.” In addition to improvements in grades, Ashley is also expanding her social circle. “I have made a lot of new friends who attend other schools. It is really important to me that I am able to see my new friends every day.”

Congratulations to Ashley and Jayden, Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for December.
