Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club February Youth of the Month
Valentina A. and Stephany G. were recognized as Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for February.

Junior YOM Valentina is an eight-year-old second grader. She has an appreciation for learning and excels in math. Her career goal is to become a lawyer someday to be able to help people. Her favorite books are "Hug Me" by Simona Ciraolo and the “I Survived” series by Lauren Tarshis. Valentina enjoys sketching, playing soccer, cooking with her mom and going to parties, especially pool parties. She first joined the Club through the Summer program at the age of six and quickly became an avid fan of all it has to offer, from the safe environment to caring staff to fun activities and the many friends she has made. “I love, love, love this Club. It’s such a happy place with a lot of happy people. I’m very comfortable and I wish I could spend more time here,” said Valentina. She also especially enjoys the Club’s daily supper offering, made possible by LI Cares, a food bank servicing nearly 400 member agencies in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Senior YOM Stephany is eleven years old and in the sixth grade. Stephany excels in science, math and reading, the latter revolving around history, comedy and drama. She plays the violin, and her talents are inclined towards the arts. Stephany is very ambitious and is intent on pursuing a college and post-college education with her future career sights on either teaching, medicine or the legal profession. As a new member who joined the Club at the start of the school year, she is enjoying her involvement and participating in many programs and activities including homework help, decorating projects and sports. “I am having a really fun and enjoyable experience here. Everyone is so loveable and sociable, and they always have smiles on their faces. The staff and kids welcome you with open arms,” said Stephany who prides herself on being responsible, respectful, honest and trustworthy.
