Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club September Youth of the Month

Junior Youth of the Month, Jordan, 9, is in the fourth grade at Landing Elementary School. He loves STEM, art, social studies and participating in gym activities. He holds a yellow belt in Jeet Kun Do and will soon be taking up Track. He is also in the school band and plays the saxophone. Jordan, who has been a member for three years, attends the Club every day and credits the Club for helping him do better in school. “I have learned to listen, to follow directions and be better behaved.” Jordan hopes to become a marine mammal trainer when he grows up and looks forward to especially working with sea lions.

Senior Youth of the Month, Leydi, 12 is in the seventh grade at Robert M. Finley Middle School. Leydi has been a member for almost two years. The Club means a great deal to her as it is a place that offers safety and security as well as educational assistance, especially in helping to improve her English language skills. She has made a lot of friends at the Club and actively participates in the Club’ Sports and Fitness programs, Cooking classes and the Dance program. Leydi understands the importance of education as a path to success and plans on graduating from high school, college and medical school to pursue a career in pediatric medicine.
