Student Hospitalized for Psych Evaluation

The 12-year-old Finley Middle School student suspended Thursday for making a was released without charge and sent to receive a psychological evaluation, according to Glen Cove Police.

The seventh-grader was writing the list in class Thursday morning when a fellow student noticed it and took it, then handed it to the teacher, police said. The teacher notified school security and principal Nelson Iocolano, who contacted police.

The student and his mother were taken to police headquarters for questioning. The boy was sent to North Shore University Hospital to be evaluated.

Det. Lt. John Nagle said police visited the family's home and "it does not appear that he had access to any type of weapons." Family members were also interviewed.

The student faces a superintendent's hearing to review the incident and suspension.
