Catering Truck Crashes Into Tree in Dix Hills

The crash occurred Saturday morning.

A catering truck struck a tree, causing a small engine fire in Dix Hills Saturday morning, fire officials say.

According to fire officials, the crash occurred on Vanderbilt Parkway near Highfield Drive at 11:40 a.m.

Dix Hills Firefighters responded to the scene to extinguish a small fire in the engine compartment of the truck, which was heavily damaged.

The driver was not injured and declined medical assistance.

Two Dix Hills fire engines, an ambulance, paramedic and first responder units responded to the crash, which were under the direction of chief Robert Fling.
