Driver Escapes Uninjured After Car Crashes, Bursts Into Flames

The crash occurred on Sunday night.

DIX HILLS, NY - A driver escaped uninjured after his car crashed into a utility pole and burst into flames in Dix Hills on Sunday night.

The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to the car fire on Wolf Hill Road near Lisa Drive at around 7:45 p.m.

Firefighters arrived and found an engulfed car fire that struck and split a utility pole in half.

The crew extinguished the fire and notified LIPA to respond for the cracked pole.

About 35 firefighters and rescue personnel responded with five trucks, two ambulances, paramedic and first responder units.

No injuries were reported.
