HHH Schools Remain Closed Monday, Tuesday

Schools will reopen on Wednesday.

HHH Schools Remain Closed Monday, Tuesday

All Half Hollow Hills schools will remain closed Monday and Tuesday in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, district officials have announced.

Here is the full announcement posted on the district's website:

It is our hope that you have remained safe during this challenging time and you understand we continue to do everything possible to safely re-open our schools.

After assessing conditions throughout the District, a decision has been made to remain closed on Monday, November 5th and Tuesday, November 6th.  Due to downed or low hanging power lines, traffic lights being out, and narrow roads due to fallen trees and debris, the safe transportation of students and staff is not possible.  All school buildings in the District presently have power and we are fortunate that our buildings have not suffered any damage.  Our maintenance and grounds crew continues to do an outstanding job in preparing our schools to safely re-open.

  • School will re-open on Wednesday, November 7th.
  • There will be a limited/ modified school lunch offering from Wednesday through Friday.
  •  The first marking period will be extended through Monday, November 19th.  There will be no tests administered or projects due before Tuesday, November 13th.  A testing schedule for the week of November 13th will be communicated by the end of the week.
  • Modifications WILL BE MADE to the school calendar following direction from the State Education Department and will be communicated once direction is received.
  • Voting will take place as originally scheduled on Tuesday, November 6th.

We are confident that the Half Hollow Hills community will remain strong through this challenging time.
