UPDATED: Police Identify Victims in Fatal Wheatley Heights Crash
A 19-year-old Wyandanch man was killed and a 31-year-old Dix Hills man was seriously injured Friday morning, police say.

UPDATED at 5:30 p.m. Friday:
Police have identified the men involved in a head-on Wheatley Heights crash that killed one and left another seriously injured Friday morning.
According to authorities, Deronne Lawrence, 19, of Wyandanch, was driving a 2008 Honda northbound on Straight Path, near Half Hollow Road, when his vehicle veered into the southbound lane and struck a 2013 Jeep head-on at 6:45 a.m.

Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the jeep, 31-year-old Dix Hills man Paul Gimelli, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip by Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance. Wyandanch Fire Department also responded to the scene.
The vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
