The Top 5 Events at the HHH Library This Week

Here are some highlights of events occurring at the Half Hollow Hills Community Library for the week of Dec 27. For a complete listing, please see the program calendar on their website.

Monday, Dec. 27: Grades 1-5 are invited to attend the  workshop from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The kids will first join artist Joyce Raimondo for a fun-filled slide show to discover how Picasso, Calder and other famous artists turned throwaway things into amazing masterpieces. They will then get to create their own whimsical Picasso-inspired faces out of 100% recycled toys, trinkets, bottle caps, beads, buttons and more.  Call the library at 631-421-4530 to register for this free fun-filled event. 

Monday, Dec. 27: will be holding a  from 6 to 7 p.m. Kwanzaa is a cultural celebration that focuses on the traditional African American values of family, community, responsibility, commerce and self-improvement.  Come down and join them for an evening of poetry, theatrical skits, essays, and dance. Refreshments will be served. No registration is required.

Wednesday, Dec. 29: presents a multimedia presentation from 3 to 4 p.m. entitled the "." Everyone is welcome to attend this lively, interactive presentation that includes the history as well as interesting facts about items that were used way before TV, cell phones, laptops and iPods were invented. To register, call the library at 631-421-4530.

Thursday, Dec. 30: Bring the kids, ages 3 and up, to the  for a free  starring Mr. Mouse and the Runaway Snowball. From 10:30-11:15 a.m., Mr. Mouse is back in a winter-filled puppet show adventure! 

Friday, Dec. 31: Come to the  from 2-3:45 p.m. and enjoy the free movie "." This movie is rated PG and takes place in Verona, Italy, the beautiful city where Romeo first met Juliet. It is here where the heartbroken leave notes asking Juliet for her help and where aspiring writer Sophie finds a 50-year-old letter that will change her life forever. As she sets off on a romantic journey of the heart with the letter's author, Claire, now a grandmother, and her handsome grandson, all three will discover that sometimes the greatest love story ever told is your own. Registration is not required for this movie.
