Police: Woman Caught With Stun Gun, Knife, at WC Airport

An 18-year-old woman from Liberty, NY, faces misdemeanor charges after she attempted to board a flight at Westchester County Airport while carrying a stun gun and pocket knife early Saturday morning, police say.

Lynette-Rose Baum was stopped while passing security at about 7 a.m. when TSA staff found an illegal stun gun and a pocket knife in her carry-on luggage, police say. Westchester County Police were called in and Baum was arrested at the scene.

Baum was attempting to board a United Airlines flight to Chicago, where she attends college, after spending spring break at home, said Westchester County Police Captain Thomas Gleason.

Baum gave police no explanation for why she was carrying the weapons, Gleason said.

TSA officials confiscated the knife, which is not illegal to own in New York State, because it breaks TSA rules. County police confiscated the stun gun.

Westchester County Police charged Baum with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. She is due in Rye Town court on April 25.
