West Harrison Man Arrested After Dispute With White Plains Cops

A 27-year-old West Harrison man faces two misdemeanor charges after a dispute with White Plains police early Sunday morning.

Police say the man climbed on a construction vehicle near the intersection of Waller and Maple Avenue in White Plains at about 4 a.m. and began banging on the windshield. Police say they asked the man to leave the area, but he refused, instead cursing at officers despite a friend's attempt to calm him down.

As police approached, they say the man lunged at them and attempted a punch. Police at this time forced the man to the ground, causing minor injuries to the man's face.

Once the man was placed under control, police say he began spitting at the officers at the scene and loudly cursing near a crowd of people. Police placed the man in a cruiser and transported him to headquarters.

The man was charged with third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, harassment, a violation and disorderly conduct, a violation.

The officer involved in the scuffle received medical attention for cuts to his knees. The suspect refused medical attention.
