Pickup Truck Explodes in St. Anthony's High School Parking Lot

The truck burst into flames Monday morning, fire officials say.

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. -- A pickup truck belonging to St. Anthony’s High School exploded in the school’s parking lot Monday morning.

A witness told Patch they heard five separate explosions before discovering the Ford pickup truck fully engulfed in flames at 1:25 a.m. on Pidgeon Hill Road in South Huntington.

According to fire officials, the truck was parked near school buses when it burst into flames. The Huntington Manor Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire.

The vehicle reportedly belonged to the school and was used in the school’s security fleet. No other vehicles were damaged in the explosion, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded to the scene with two trucks, which were under the command of Second Assistant Chief Jon Hoffmann.
