Workers were busy Thursday setting up the stage for a musical performance heralding the opening of the Microsoft store at Walt Whitman Shops.

John Legend and Taio Cruz are scheduled to perform Friday at 6 p.m. after the store opens at 11 a.m. A grand opening ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m.

Shortly after 11 Thursday night, about a half dozen fans had arrived in the parking lot, hoping to be among the first 200 people to be awarded concert wristbands on Friday morning. Claiming the first spot was Terri Bailer of Melville, who arrived at 9 p.m., and said, "This is the first time I've ever done this," and Lori Washington, who was second.

Jets Hall of Famer Curtis Martin is scheduled to play Kinect games against selected customers Saturday at 2 p.m.
