Urgent-Care Facility Planned

Dr. Jake Deutsch to build new service on East Main Street.

Urgent-Care Facility Planned
A doctor known to many as a TV medical correspondent plans to open a medical center in Huntington.

Dr. Jake Deustch, an emergency physician who has appeared on the Dr. Oz show and other programs, plans an urgent care facility for 241 E. Main St., on the site of the former Mount Sinai North Shore Medical Group Pediatrics.

“Huntington is a great location for Cure Urgent Care and we expect to be able to serve the medical needs of the community, serving local residents with their medical needs,” Deutsch said. “We intend to aggressively grow throughout the New York region.”

The 17,000-square-foot-building is planned as a full medical center, centered around urgent care, with rental space available for plastic surgeons and dermatologists, internists, pediatricians, diagnostics and more, Deutsch said. In addition to Cure Urgent Care, tenants already include Quick RX Pharmacy and Lenco Diagnostic Laboratory Services.

Deutsch is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and served as chief resident at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. He has been on staff at the Hackensack University Medical Center for the past 10 years.

In addition to clinical work, Deutsch has also been a  medical source on CNN and Fox News on a regular basis. He also has been featured on the Dr. Oz show and contributed to Condé Nast’s Details Magazine blog, The Daily Details, answering readers’ health questions.

Cure Urgent Care plans to roll out at least five and possibly up to eight additional centers in New York City over the next two years.
