John McQuaid is a trustee of Kings Park Youth, Kings Park’s largest organized youth sports group. The organization is trying to find a solution to problem that has dogged them for years; the lack of available playing fields for the more than 1,000 kids that make up KPY.

Local firefighters responded to a fire on Monday at an apartment above Pick of the Litter puppy store on Main Street in Smithtown. 70 animals were rescued, but five perished in the fire.

The Kings Park St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee presented $500 scholarships to two graduates of the Kings Park High School Class of 2012.

A recently completed fact-finding report, completed by a third party to help with teacher contract negotiations, was rejected by the district in a special board of education meeting held Monday at Kings Park High School.

Battery Storage Warehouse Proposed For Old Northport Road

An Arlington, Virginia company has submitted an application to the Town of Smithtown Planning Department for the construction of an 119,000 square foot warehouse on Old Northport Road. The site essentially stores energy that can be used at peak times of the day when surges in energy use are seen. The energy stored would be received from the Long Island Power Authority grid and the stored energy would be released to it.
