CHILD CARE COUNCIL OF WESTCHESTER AWARDED 2013 JOEY AWARDS AND CHAMPIONS OF CHILD CARE AWARDS

On Friday, May 17, 2013, the Child Care Council of Westchester held its annual awards event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in White Plains to recognize exceptional individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the child care industry in Westchester County. Over 250 people attended the Awards Breakfast. Recognizing those community individuals who have significantly supported early care and education in Westchester, the Council presented its 2013 CHAMPIONS OF CHILD CARE AWARDS to NYS Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, The Editorial Board of The Journal News and The Dannon Company. Marking the 26th year of the Council’s JOEY AWARDS, named after Joseph M. Ungaro, former Vice President of The Gannett Metro News Division and first President of the Board of Directors of the Child Care Council of Westchester, this year’s honorees were: Lauren Angarano (Harrison Children’s Center); Sara Frontera (Virginia Marx Children’s Center at Westchester Community College); Ruth Goodman (Mount Kisco Child Care Center); Rachel Miller (Lanza Learning Center at New Little Branches); Hope Pierce (Little Explorers Daycare); and Frank Williams (White Plains Youth Bureau). The Joey Awards are given to exceptional child care professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the Westchester early care and education community and whose efforts have significantly impacted the lives of children and youth.
