Long Beach will be kicking off the summer this Memorial Day weekend with festivals, farmers' markets, and remembrance ceremonies. Here's a guide to everything happening:
Greenfest is an annexed Event to The Green Project of Long Island. Its a day of learning Green and is a staple in Long Beach. It culminates Green Living in all categories of environmental, ecological, home living and healthy eating and fitness. All are welcome and the event showcases, free cooking demos, bands and green giveaways by vendors. Non-Profits, and Green Vendors will be on display. Full event information here.
The first of the weekly arts event in Kennedy Plaza, the event offers a market of Long Island arts and crafts, live music from 1-4 p.m., a kids' art station, and more. Full event information here.
Support local farmers and businesses by picking up groceries, body care products, and more at the farmer's market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Full event information here on the Farmers' Market Facebook page.
The event takes place in the parking lot of the Long Beach Recreation Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. Awards will be given to various age groups for men and women as well as physically challenged participants and military veterans. Full event information here on the city's website.
The Long Beach Memorial Day Parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. at Ohio Avenue and Beach Street and ends at Kennedy Plaza in front of City Hall.
