Motorist Hits Man and Dog in West End

A motorist struck a man and his dog in the West End last Thursday evening.

The Long Beach Fire Department received a called at 11:05 p.m. on Aug. 18 for a pedestrian and his dog who were hit by a car outside the Saloon, at 1016 W. Beech St., according to Chief Richard Corbett.

The man who was hit, a 56-year-old Long Beach resident, suffered major injuries and was transported to Nassau University Medical Center, and his dog died at the accident scene, Corbett said.
