Residents to March into Council Meeting with ‘Price Tags on Their Lives’

Movement planned for Tuesday’s city council meeting in response to loss of Long Beach Medical Center.

Residents to March into Council Meeting with ‘Price Tags on Their Lives’

Long Beach residents fighting for a hospital on the barrier island will march into City Hall Monday night.

Residents, NYCC members, and activists are planning to march into Monday evening’s City Council meeting “with price tags on their lives” in a move to demand a medical facility on the barrier island.

“The profitability of a medical facility is more important than my life in case of an emergency in Long Beach,” said resident Ben Britton in a statement. “So long as we don’t have a hospital in Long Beach I will walk with this price tag on my life.”

The event is set for Monday at 6:30 p.m.

A forum on the Long Beach Medical Center closing is also set for Monday at 7 p.m. at Lindell School. Read about it here.
