Drunken Driver Seriously Injures Elderly Pedestrian on Long Island: Police
Three people were hospitalized Monday afternoon.

Three people were hospitalized after a woman drove drunk, struck another vehicle and seriously injured an 89-year-old pedestrian in front of a Huntington McDonald’s on Monday afternoon, police say.
According to authorities, Daryl Richardson, 56, of Huntington Station, was driving a 2005 Toyota westbound on West Jericho Turnpike when she attempted to pull into the McDonald’s parking lot, located at 344 West Jericho Turnpike, but instead struck a 2009 Chevrolet that was traveling eastbound at 4:05 p.m.
The Chevrolet then veered off the roadway and struck Louis Anania, 89, of Dix Hills, who was leaving McDonald’s when the crash occurred. Anania became temporarily pinned between the car and the front of the building, police say. He was transported to Huntington Hospital to be treated for an open leg fracture and a broken clavicle.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a Huntington Station man, was treated for minor injuries at Huntington Hospital and was released.
Richardson was also transported to Huntington Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation revealed Richardson was driving while intoxicated and she was placed under arrest.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call Second Squad Detectives at 854-8252.
