Adoptable Animal of the Week: Meet Coco

This sweet, little gent is hoping to leave the shelter to enjoy 'the good life.'

Adoptable Animal of the Week: Meet Coco

Name: Coco

Case Number: #8409

Seasons Greetings!

My name is Coco and I am a sweet, gentle little gent. While I’m personable with everyone, my personality will really shine once I’m in my forever home with my special people.

You see, right now I am living at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, and at my age, I should not be in a shelter setting. I should be enjoying the good life, with nice walks and easy afternoons curled up with my family!

I may have some hearing impairment so I may not always seem attentive. I like playing with people and simply love toys! Due to my age and limitations, I may be more comfortable with tweens and up who will be respectful and careful when handling me, though I’m a very tolerant pooch. I tolerate all types of handling and will readily share my food with people.

While interested in other dogs and tolerant of their antics, I tend to be very sniffy and humpy, but not very playful. With the right playmates, I might be more playful.

If you're interested in adopting Coco, contact the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter at (516) 785-5220 or stop by the shelter, which is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. Adoption hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. (Call for holiday schedule.)

All adopted pets will be spayed or neutered, will receive all required innoculations and will be  microchipped, all free of charge. The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is working hard to assist the many dogs and cats that have entered the shelter as a result of their owners being displaced in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. As part of the shelter's Orphans of the Storm Pet Adoption program, all adoption fees are being waived from December 1, 2012 to January 19, 2013.
