Roslyn Savings Bank Nearly Robbed Again

The Roslyn Savings Bank located at 50 Hempstead Turnpike was nearly robbed for the second time in less than a month on Monday afternoon.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 1:08 p.m., a black male suspect, approximately 6 feet tall, 30 to 40 years old, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baseball cap, entered the bank. The suspect walked up to one of the tellers and appeared to begin preparing a demand note.

The employee walked away causing the suspect to flee the bank on foot without any proceeds westbound on Hempstead Turnpike, police said.

According to police, there were five employees and three customers present at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.

Less than one month ago, on Nov. 14, a man, fitting the same description as the suspect in Monday's attempted robbery, an undisclosed amount of cash from the same bank. Police are for the suspect wanted in connection with the Nov. 14 bank robbery and believe he is also responsible for a bank robbery in Freeport.
