Massapequa's Gang Green fans may be gearing up for the big AFC Championship Game this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they'll also be chowing down.

To truly savor a game that could give the Jets their first chance of heading to the Super Bowl since the 1960s, one needs the right surroundings. Widescreen HDTVs, soda, beer and  large amounts of hot wings are a must, and several places in the Massapequa area are offering sports fans some solid food and drink specials to entice them out of their homes.

Patch, ever vigilant in enhancing your football watching experience,  has done the legwork for Massapequa's Jets fans. If you're the type that likes to get out of the house with the boys (or girls) to enjoy some pigskin on the television at your local watering hole or restaurant, here's the lowdown on just where to go to enjoy the big game this weekend.

Big Daddy's Cajun restaurant on 1 Park Avenue is offering a Jets Special that feeds 15-20 and includes a 6-foot po-boy (pulled pork, BBQ beef, muffaletta or combo), a half tray of smoked wings, and a half tray of smoked rib tips for $145. If you're sitting at the bar you can enjoy half-price wings and $2.50 Hurricanes.

Paddy's Loft at 1286 Hicksville Road is offering a pitcher of beer (Budweiser, Coors Light, or Bud Light Wheat) with 10 Buffalo wings for $15. Two-dollar sliders with fries, cheese, and pickle are also available. As for drink specials, all domestic bottled beer is $3.50 and pitchers of either Bud, Coors Light, or Bud Light Wheat are $9.

On Sunday, The Blue Parrot on 5460 Merrick Road is offering a free shot (of your choice, no top shelf) each time the Jets score. Also available are $20 buckets (which includes four domestic beers and four non-top shelf shots) and $2 Skittle and Swine Flu Shots.

Johnny McGorey's

Well-known sports pub Johnny McGorey's, located at 131 Front St across from the Massapequa Park LIRR station, is offering 20-cent boneless wings all day Sunday. As for drink specials, all Coors Light bottles and pints are $2.50 and mixed drinks are $3.50.

For the game on Sunday, the TGI Friday's at 5204 Sunrise Highway is offering $3 bottles of Michelob Ultra. On the food side, they offer $4 wings, $5 cheeseburgers, and $7 ribs.

Well known for their UFC pay-per-view viewings each month, McCanns Pub & Grill at 5590 Merrick Road is offering $3 bottles of Bud, Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Light for the Jets game this Sunday. You can also purchase a pitcher of beer with an order of wings for $15.
