King Wins GOP Primary

Rep. Peter King easily defeated a primary challenge from Robert Previdi in the Republican primary in the 3rd Congressional District Tuesday night.

King, whose been a member of Congress since 1993, held a commanding 91 percent of the vote leading Previdi 20,472 to 2,096 with 98 percent of precincts reporting, according to unnofficial results posted by the Nassau County  and Suffolk County election boards.

The only other local primary in the Massapequa area featured a candidate who had already dropped out of the race. Mejias quit campaigning  following his arrest for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend. Carlow will face incumbent Republican Kemp Hannon in November.
