March 16: A Classy Edition

Welcome to a very classy Wednesday at Massapequa Patch. We like to think  like to think we're classy every day, but today especially.

Why? Because we have a lot of classes on today's agenda.

Each day, we spotlight events and happenings in and around the area that we think  you ought to know about. We want your help too. If there's an event announcement you'd like us to highlight, please contact us.

Here's what you need to know  today: 

  • Tai Chi Class: We'll start with a class that we hope wakes you up and gives you a good boost to start the day. The will play host to a Tai Chi class at 10:30 a.m. It's open to all, but registration is required.
  • Cooking Class: Now that we have you winded, let's feed you. is holding a cooking class for adults with a St. Patrick's Day theme. You can learn to make Shepherd's Pie and Irish Soda Bread. The class costs $69 per person and it runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Siblings Class: The is hosting a class called "Siblings Without Rivalry." Parent coach Erika Stroh will teach you ways to get your kids to cooperate and respect each other. The class gets underway at 11 a.m.
  • PTA Meetings: There will be a General and executive meeting at school beginning at 9:45 a.m. There's also a SEPTA general meeting at starting at 7:30 p.m. 
  • Fallen Hero: A wake will be held for Nassau County Police officer will be held at the Selden Fire Department at 44 Woodmere Place in Selden. Viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
