Massapequa Crime Report: Gas Station Fight

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.


On Nov. 1, two Merrick men were arrested for assault after a fight at the Hess Station on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa just days after Hurricane Sandy, police said. Anthony Iuzzolino, 42, allegedly punched a man in the face at about 4:45 p.m. and Iuzzolino and the victim tussled on the ground.  After Iuzzzolino allegedly slammed the victim's face into cement, James, Knaust, 45, also began striking the victim, according to police.  Iuzzolino and Knaust were both charged with assault.

On Nov. 3, a Massapequa man was for allegedly assaulting an employee of the Sunset Grill on Sunrise Highway, police said.  Gregory Heeber, 29, of Massapequa was allegedly intoxicated when he was asked to leave the bar, police said. Two employees were assaulted by Heeber, when they escorted him out, police said.


On Nov. 1, a home was burglarized on Highwater Avenue in Massapequa, police said. The thief entered through a basement window and stole jewelry.

On Nov. 6, a home on East Shore Drive was broken into, police said.  The rear door was broken, but nothing was taken, ppolice said.

Grand Larceny

On Oct. 26, a thief made a purchase at Raymour and Flanagan with a fraudulent credit card.

On Nov. 2, Maurice Saylor, 36,  of Uniondale  arrested at Macy's at the Sunrise Mall and charged with grand larceny.

On Nov. 4, a lawnmower, electronics and other items were stolen from a backyard on Roosevelt Boulevard, police said. The victim was taking inventory to report to his insurance company.

On Nov. 11, an East Shore Drive Resident reported power tools were missing from his garage. The victim's home was damaged in the hurricane and he lost power.

On Nov. 12., Nine people ate $245 worth of food at the TGIFriday's on Sunrise Highway and left without paying, police said.
