Hofstra Lacrosse Signs Two Massapequans

Two area lacrosse players have signed national letters of intent to play at Hofstra.

Steve Romano, a senior at ,  and Farmingdale High School standout Sal Tuttle, who lives in Massapequa Park, will suit up for the Pride in 2011.

Romano scored 20 goals and had 23 assists last season when he was an all-county honorable mention selection. In 2009, he tallied 10 goals and 10 assists.

Tuttle, an all-county player in 2010, had 41 goals and 42 assists last season as he helped lead the Dalers to the Nassau title.  In 2009,  he scored 12 goals and had 12 assists.

Both Romano, a midfielder  and Tuttle, an attackman, also played high school football. Tuttle also was on the basketball team.

Hofstra men's lacrosse coach Seth Tierney said he was "pleased"  with his recruiting class and  with keeping "Long Island's best and brightest players at home."
