Police: Calhoun Students Broke into High School
Alarm was triggered Sunday night, and cops responded shortly thereafter.
According to police, school personnel were notified of an alarm at Calhoun ringing at 9:06 p.m. A 59-year-old man responded to check the security system. He observed a male going through a desk, cops said.
Police were called, and as they arrived, two males were seen fleeing the building on foot. The two, ages 16 and 17, respectively, were apprehended a short time later near the Relyea Drive and Charlson Court intersection. A set of keys from the school was recovered. Both teens attend Calhoun, cops confirmed.
Both teens were charged with third-degree burglary and one was also charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Their arraignment is scheduled for Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
