Middletown Man Faces Multiple Child Sex Abuse Charges

An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

MIDDLETOWN, NY — A 41-year-old Middletown man was arrested Tuesday and accused of child sex abuse.

New York State Police Manuel Cordero was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree sexual abuse, all felonies, and third-degree aggravated sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

New York State Parole will be filing charges for violating conditions of his parole.

Police said an investigation began in August 2016 in conjunction with the Orange County Department of Social Services–Child Protective Services when they said Cordero had sexually abused a female child when she was between the ages of 6 and 11 while in the Town of Wallkill.

Cordero was arraigned in the Town of Wallkill Court and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail or $450,000 bond.

He is scheduled to return to court October 7.
