Voter's Guide: Miller Place, Rocky Point School Budget, Board Election
Miller Place

The Miller Place School District is proposing a $69.01 million budget for the 2014-15 school year, which is a 2.52 percent spending increase over the current budget. 

The proposed tax levy increase is 1.51 percent, which is within the state's tax cap. If approved, the average homeowner in the district would pay about an additional $200 in school taxes next year. 

Three candidates–incumbent Michael Manspeizer and challenger Richard Panico and Lisa Reitan–are running for two at-large seats on the Miller Place Board of Education.  

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at North Country Road Middle School. Find more information on the proposed budget on the district's website here

Rocky Point 

The Rocky Point School District is proposing a $76.89 million budget for the 2014-15 school year, which is a 3.53 percent spending increase over the current budget. 

The proposed tax levy increase is 0.98 percent, which is within the state's tax cap. If approved, the average homeowner in the district would pay about an additional $55 in school taxes next year. 

Six candidates–incumbents Michael P. Nofi and Diane Burke, as well as challengers Melissa Brown, Sean P. Callahan, Kathleen Heggers and Donna McCauley–are running for two at-large seats on the Rocky Point Board of Education. 

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rocky Point High School. Find more information on the proposed budget on the district's website  here
