A Williston Park fire that occurred Sunday at 7:26 a.m. is considered non-suspicious, authorities said.

According to detectives, 911 received a call for a house fire on Mineola Boulevard.  An off-duty Nassau County detective saw the flames coming from the home and along with a neighbor entered the house and escorted the 59-year-old male homeowner safely out of the burning home, police said.

The homeowner was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

Williston Park, Mineola, Albertson and Garden City Park Fire Departments responded with 10 pieces of apparatus and 100 firefighters to extinguish the fire.

Two firefighters received medical assistance at the scene for chest pains and heat exhaustion.  A third firefighter was transported to a local hospital for treatment of sprained ankle.
