Man's Body Pulled From Water Near Montauk Lighthouse
Despite valiant efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

MONTAUK, NY — It was a tragic ending in Montauk Wednesday as a man who was pulled from the surf near the lighthouse was pronounced dead.
The man was identified as 29-year old Aaron Bruno, of Islip, according to New York State Park Police.
According to Randy Simons, public information officer for the New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Department, at 5:25 p.m., New York State Park Police received a call for an unresponsive man who was pulled from the surf at Montauk Point State Park, northwest of the lighthouse.

"Sadly, after failed CPR efforts and deployment of AED, he was pronounced dead at the scene," Simons said.
First responders included New York State Park Police, East Hampton Town Police, the Montauk Fire Department and EMS, and the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Sources said that local fishermen pulled Bruno from the water but that could not be immediately confirmed.
The official cause of death is yet to be determined by a medical examiner's investigation.
Bruno was a chef and had worked at restaurants on Long Island over the past decade, according to his LinkedIn profile.
