Valley Cottage Lady Clips Coupons For Rockland's Hungry [VIDEO]

She donated 2,023 pounds of food to People to People.

New York may be an expensive place to live, but for Valley Cottage’s Coupon Queen, she’s found a way around it, and for a good cause.

Anna (Foldvary) De Sousa clips coupons as a hobby and with the help of Legislator Ed Day, she was connected with People to People’s Executive Director Diane Serratore.

With her coupons, she’s been able to walk away with the supermarket paying her about $50 for an $800 bill. With her skills, she’s bought supplies for overseas  and on Thursday, People to People came by her home to pick up 2,023 pounds of food.

“The federal government says that food contributions are valued at $2.40 a pound,” said Serratore. “At $2.40 per pound … a total of 4,855.20.”

“With the closing of the West Nyack Post Office, and suspension of the "Adopt a Platoon" program we both held dear to us, (De Sousa) ended up with a living room full of supplies and nowhere to donate them,” said Day. “I reached out to my friends at People to People and we got a marriage in the works.”
