Clarkstown Police Make Prostitution Arrest in FBI Operation

Operation Cross Country keeps the issue of child sex trafficking in the public's view.

NEW CITY, NY — On Oct. 13, the Clarkstown Police Department assisted the FBI in Operation Cross Country, an international effort focusing on underage human trafficking.

Operation Cross Country keeps the issue of child sex trafficking in the public’s view. The Clarkstown Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit assisted in the operation, as they have done in the past.

One arrest was made in a Nanuet hotel for prostitution. A 61-year-old woman from New York City was arrested for prostitution, and charged with a misdemeanor. She was processed and released on an appearance ticket with a return court date of Oct. 31.

The Clarkstown Police Department will continue to work together with other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure that children are not allowed to be exploited. Operation Cross Country X is part of the FBI’s Innocence Lost Initiative, which began in 2003. These teams work all year to recover child trafficking victims. Since the inception of the program, there have been more than 6100 child identifications and locations.
