State police said they were trying to make an arrest and the Bronx resident ran into traffic

A man died running from a state trooper on the New York State Thruway in Woodbury yesterday.
At 4:57 p.m. Wednesday state police conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on the Thruway at mile marker 48 northbound.
