Republicans Backing Zugibe For Re-election As D.A.

The Rockland County Republican Party has decided to back Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe, a Haverstraw Democrat, in his bid for re-election.

Rockland GOP Chairman Vincent Reda said Republican Party leaders met Monday and decided they would cross-endorse Zugibe instead of mounting a campaign against him in the November 2011 election.

Republicans are hoping to make political inroads this year with the many local offices that are up for election, ranging from sheriff and town supervisors to the entire Rockland County Legislature.

Zugibe was elected district attorney in 2007.
