New Hyde Park Memorial Welcomes New Faculty for 2012-13

When New Hyde Park Memorial High School opened its doors to students for the 2012-13 school year earlier this month, five new members of the faculty were among the fresh new faces: Joseph Giacomantonio, Tricia Speirs, Jessica Fisher, Francis Tloczkowski and new principal Richard Faccio.

Tloczkowski grew up in New Hyde Park and is a New Hyde Park Memorial alumni. As a member of the Gladiators he captained the soccer and lacrosse teams. Earning his degree at SUNY New Paltz in history and secondary education, he was also a 4-year varsity soccer player, a member of the all-academic team and is currently working on a Masters Degree at St. Johns University.

Spears is a graduate of Saint Joseph's University with a bachelor's in elementary/ special education. She grew up in Massapequa Park before living in Philadelphia for 4 years while going to school. She currently volunteers on Saturdays in Harlem for the Saturday Club at Harlem Academy. She will start the school year as a new teaching assistant.

After graduating from New Hyde Park Memorial, Fisher went to Hofstra University, where she received a degree in speech communications and marketing. After working in New York City for 2 years, she decided to pursue her passion for reading by returning to school, attending Queens College, where she received an additional degree in English and secondary education.

Giacomantonio attended the University at Albany, beginning his career as a one-on on- aide in Elmont in 2010 and as a teaching assistant at New Hyde Park. He coaches travel baseball, freshman baseball at Kellenberg Memorial and also assists with the varsity baseball team for the fall at New Hyde Park Memorial. His hobbies are crabbing and going to the beach during the summer.

Dr. Faccio previously served as Principal at Canandaigua Academy in Canandaigua, New York. Prior to his position as principal, Dr. Faccio served as assistant principal for 7 years, interim high school principal, athletic director and high school business teacher. He also served as an adjunct teacher at Finger Lakes Community College. He received his Bachelor of Science, Accounting at SUNY Fredonia and his Master of Science, Computer Education and Certification in Business and Distributive Education at Nazareth College. Dr. Faccio was awarded his Ed.D. in Educational Administration at the University of Rochester – Warner School. He grew up in Bethpage; and he, along with his wife, Jeanette, and their four children, are very excited about returning to Long Island.
