The New Hyde Park boys volleyball team has a roster that is made up of primarily seniors and that experience should help them get to the Conference 5 playoffs this season.

Senior standout player Stanley Shaji returns giving New Hyde Park a strong offensive weapon.

"We're a very talented team," said Head Coach David Eisermann. "We're a little vertically challenged as we don't have too many tall guys but our athleticism should more than make up for that."

2010 Record: 6-8, lost to Roslyn in 1st round of playoffs

Coach: David Eisermann

Returning Players:

Stanley Shaji, Strongside Hitter, Senior

Dylan Lopez, Setter, Senior

Geoffrey Lin, Libero, Senior

John Sanelli, Setter, Senior

Departing Players:

Greg Simeon

Nate Lee

Expectations: Eisermann believes that his team will make it to the playoffs this season with the talent he has returning.

"Stanley (Shaji) is a strong offensive player for us and Dylan (Lopez) is great at setting up his teammates for kills," Eisermann said.

In addition to the seniors, the Gladiators have two new players who should have an immediate impact; they are juniors Justin Rezin and Brian Goodwin. There is also sophomore Eric Priest from the junior varsity squad who was added to the team.

"Our biggest competition in our conference will definitely be Valley Stream South," Eisermann said. "They have a talented team over there and should hold on to the top spot in the conference throughout the season."

Key Games:

9/28 Valley Stream South

10/18 at Valley Stream South
