1. City Island: From Mulberries to Minesweepers

Why go: A lecture entitled "City Island: From Mulberries to Minesweepers" will showcase the small Bronx community known as City Island, which has had a surprisingly significant impact from its major role in oyster farming to its magnetic appeal for tourists and real estate developers, including August Belmont. Registration is requested.

2. 2012 Journal News Golf Show
Where/When: , 198 Central Ave., White Plains, Saturday and Sunday, March 10 & 11, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why go: The 2012 Journal New Golf Show will feature golf merchandise, free lessons from pros, information about Westchester County's golf courses, demonstrations, vacation information and new products.

3. 15th Annual White Plains St. Patrick's Day Parade
Where/When: 
Mamaroneck Ave & Old Mamaroneck Rd., White Plains, Saturday, March 10 at noon.
Why go: Join parade marchers in painting the city green at noon. Floats and musical performers will start at the intersection of Mamaroneck Avenue and Old Mamaroneck Avenue and march down to Main Street in front of .

4. Free Performance Showcase and Art Event Honoring Thea Eichler
Where/When: New Rochelle Public Library, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m.
Why go: A free performance showcase sponsored by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts will be held in the New Rochelle Public Library’s Ossie Davis Theater, honoring NRCA founder and arts activist Thea Eichler—a primary driving force behind the organization for over 30 years. Following the entertainment, a reception for Eichler will be held in conjunction with the opening of an art exhibition of work by artist members of the NRCA in the Lumen Winter Gallery lobby of the library through 7 p.m.

5. Pacifica Quartet with Lawrence Dutton
Where/When: Concordia College, 171 White Plains Rd., Bronxville, Sunday, March 11 at 4 p.m.
Why go: The internationally acclaimed, Grammy-winning chamber music ensemble, The Pacifica Quartet, will perform at the Concordia College Conservatory of Music and Art as a part of the Hoch Chamber Music Series.
