New Rochelle Alerts Residents to Storm

The city sent out an automated phone message, a text alert and an email Friday regarding Hurricane Sandy.

New Rochelle Alerts Residents to Storm

From the City of New Rochelle:

This is an important message regarding Hurricane Sandy.  While forecasts are still uncertain, high winds and heavy rain may strike our region beginning late Sunday night, with a significant risk of flooding and power outages.

The City is taking every possible precaution and all public services are ready. We are asking our residents to prepare as well by checking supplies, making an emergency kit, securing yard items and construction materials, and having a plan in case it becomes necessary to leave your home.

You can find much more information on the City Web site at www.newrochelleny.com or at www.ready.gov. And we will provide additional automated messages as needed.

Finally, we encourage you to sign up to receive these emergency bulletins on your cell phone or through email.  That way, you can stay informed, even if your land-line service is disrupted.  From the City’s homepage, click on the “Connect-CTY Sign Up Now” icon in the lower right, then follow prompts.
