Oasis Shelter Forms Advocacy Group to Raise Funds

A kick-off fundraiser will be held May 14-15.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - An emergency overnight shelter is forming an advocacy group to maintain ongoing funding for the facility and is holding a fundraiser.

Oasis Shelter is a 50-bed facility that offers temporary shelter and housing opportunities for men and women who are faced with homelessness, organizers said.

Larry Mosely, the director of Oasis, announced Tuesday the formation of the advocacy group with other community leaders.

The kick-off effort will be a fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 14-15 at 95 Lincoln Ave.

Mosley said he hopes to raise $50,000 in donations through a Giant Tag Sale that weekend.

“This will cover the costs of much needed repairs to the Oasis Shelter,” he said.
